A: It is a three-hour, outdoor, nighttime program designed to introduce people to the fascinating natural history and folklore of the Pinelands, using the Jersey Devil legend as the theme. Q: What do you do? A: We have an open fire (conditions permitting) and live folk music. We encourage people to bring hot dogs and marshmallows to roast while they listen to the music. Then we recount the legend of the Jersey Devil, and go on a hike (1½ miles) in the dark to see if we can find him. Along the way, we tell some of the other spooky stories that are part of the folklore of the Pinelands. Q: Where is the program held? A: In

A: No. What makes it spooky is simply being in the woods in the dark in the realm of the Jersey Devil, and the stories about bizarre Pinelands characters of the past. Q: Is the hike difficult? A: It depends entirely on your state of fitness. It is a mile and a half, over mostly level ground, partly in soft sand, with some areas of uneven footingand it’s in the dark, without artificial light. On most nights, moon and starlight are sufficient. Q: How much does it cost? A: $10 per person, flat fee for all ages. Q: Do you provide refreshments? A: No. You may bring whatever you want, but most people bring hot dogs and marshmallows (be sure to bring skewers) and various drinks and snacks. Alcohol is not permitted. Q: Can I bring my pet(s)? A: Sorry, no. By
