9th Annual Tour de Pines Bicycle Tour
The 2013 Tour de Pines, sponsored by Pinelands Preservation Alliance, celebrates Pinelands Month in October with five consecutive single day bicycle tours of the New Jersey Pinelands.

The forecast for Sunday, October 13th/Ride like the Devil Ride is: 30% chance of rain or drizzle before noon, cloudy and 69 degrees. If you want to check before the ride go to www.weather.gov and look at the forecast for Hammonton, NJ. We will see you there!
You must be registered for these rides.
The cost is $15 for PPA members and $35 for non-members. Use this link to register online or register in person at the ride. Please arrive early.
If you register to ride after 3pm today (Friday, October 11th) you will be given cue sheets at the ride.
Please arrive by 8:30 so that we are ready to go at 9:00 am sharp for both Saturday and Sunday.
- Directions to Saturday, Oct. 12th Ride: Saturday's ride starts at Jakes Branch County Park, 1100 Double Trouble Road, Beachwood, NJ. Here is a link to get directions.
- Directions to Sunday, Oct. 13th Ride: Sunday's ride starts at Historic Batsto Village in Wharton State Forest (about 8 miles east of Hammonton, NJ). Here is a link to get directions.
The 2013 Tour de Pines will begin on Wednesday, October 9th at PPA's Bishop Farmstead in Southampton Township, traverse the length and breadth of the Pinelands National Reserve, and culminate at Batsto Village on Sunday, October 13th.
Each day’s tour will range from 40-55 miles per day, with average speeds of 11-13 mph, and begin and end at the same location.
The Tour de Pines is a voluntary, non-competitive, unsupported ride. Participants are required to provide their own transportation, food and lodging.
Participants may elect to ride one, two or all days of the Tour. All rides start at 9:00 a.m.

Day 1 - Wednesday, October 9th

Day 1 – Wednesday, October 9th
Start Location: Pinelands Preservation Alliance, Southampton, NJ 08088
CRANBERRY CRUISER LOOP – This 46 mile ride takes you through Brendan Byrne State Forest, historic Medford Village, past Kirby’s Mill, and past the farms fields of Southampton Township.
Day 2 – Thursday, October 10th
Start Location: Lucille’s Country Cooking, Warren Grove, NJ 08005
HEART OF THE PINES LOOP – This ride is a loop instead of an out and back this year! This 50 mile ride takes you past Bass River State Forest (NJ’s first state forest), Harrisville Pond, Wharton State Forest, Lake Oswego and the New Jersey Conservation Foundation’s Franklin Parker Preserve.
Day 3 – Friday, October 11th
Start Location: Belleplain State Forest, Woodbine NJ, 08270
THE BRIDGE TO NOWHERE – This 53 mile ride takes you through Belleplain State Forest, Maurice River Park, Port Norris, and Dividing Creek. Have lunch on the mysterious Bridge to Nowhere at Maurice River Park!
Day 4 – Saturday, October 12th
Start Location: Jakes Branch County Park Office, Beachwood NJ, 08722
JAKES BRANCH LOOP – This 53 mile loop takes you along scenic Toms River and Barnegat Bay. Other highlights include a lunch stop at the 19th Annual Pine Barrens Jamboree at Wells Mills County Park in Waretown. Enjoy the musical sounds of the Jersey Pines during lunch!
Day 5 – Sunday, October 13th
Start Location: Batsto Village in Wharton State Forest
RIDE LIKE THE DEVIL – This 48 mile ride will take to you to several historic and legendary sites in the Pine Barrens. Start off in Historic Batsto Village a former iron and glass making industrial center, have lunch in Historic Smithville Village, and visit Leeds Point the birthplace of the Jersey Devil. Other highlights include Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge, Port Republic, Oyster Creek and Renault Winery isn’t too far away.

Registration Fee: $15 for PPA members and $35 for a non-member - ride for one day or all days for one registration fee! Register before September 9, 2013 and get a bonus Ride like the Devil t-shirt while supplies last.

The Tour de Pines helps to support our work to protect New Jersey's Pinelands so there are always beautiful green places to ride your bike in south Jersey. This year riders will recieve a discounted PPA membership for one year.
