	Pinelands Commission Appointments (2009) The Pinelands Commission has been hobbled by its lack of a full complement of Commissioners, and it is not the only important commission in this state that is in need of appointments by the Governor. Learn More
	Ocean Acres Conservation Zone (2009) In 2004, Barnegat Township adopted an ordinance that created a 350 acre Residential Conservation (RC) Zone within the existing Regional Growth portion of the Ocean Acres sub-division. Walters Group, a major land owner within the subdivision, believes that a 135 lot portion of the conservation zone should now be rezoned to allow the development of houses. Learn More
	Protecting Roadside Vegetation (2009) In violation of the Pinelands regulations, road maintenance crews have been destroying the natural vegetation along roadways throughout the Pinelands. Learn More
	Robert J. Miller AirPark, Ocean County (2009) The Pinelands Preservation Alliance is strongly opposed to an Memorandum of Agreement for more development at the Robert J. Miller AirPark. In the preservation area the Pinelands Comprehensive Management Plan allows for a 50 percent expansion of non-conforming uses that existed prior to 1981. Ocean County should not be allowed to go beyond this clear and generous allowance. Learn More
	New WalMart Application has been submitted to NJDEP Jaylin Holdings has submitted a new application for a proposed WalMart Supercenter located on Route 37 in Toms River and Manchester Township's in Ocean County. Learn More
	Medford Township Parkland Diversion (2008) Medford Township, Burlington County has violated its agreement with the New Jersey State Green Acres program by accepting taxpayer monies for open space and allowing a private contracting business to establish a construction yard on the site. Learn More
	NJDEP Upholds Protection of Northern Pine Snake On January 8, 2010 the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection made the determination to deny the petition request by the New Jersey Builders Association to amend and remove the "threatened" status of the Northern Pine Snake (Pituophis melanoleucus). 	Pemberton's New Master Plan (2009) Pemberton Township has completed the planning board process of updating its master plan. Most of the changes rezone farmland to accommodate residential or commercial development. Learn More
	Pinelands Mandatory Clustering The Pinelands Commission adopted amendments to the Pinelands Comprehensive Management Plan (CMP) in April 2009 which require mandatory clustering of residential development in the Pinelands Forest and Rural Development Areas. These amendments require clustering of residential development on one acre lots whenever two or more units are proposed in either of the two management areas, with the balance of the property permanently protected from development. 	Southern Ocean Landfill (2009) The Township of Ocean (Waretown), Ocean County would like to install solar panels on the capped closed Southern Ocean Landfill. Learn More
	Pinelands Management Area Changes (Summer 2009) The Pinelands Commission will soon consider making up to ten changes to the boundaries of the "management areas" that determine the kinds of development permitted in each area under the Comprehensive Management Plan (CMP). Learn More
	Proposed Diamond Lake Sewer Extension in Monroe, Gloucester County The 2008 Monroe Township Master Plan Reexamination Report recommended that the Diamond Lake community, located in a Rural Development Area, be serviced with public sewer. Sewers are strictly prohibited in Rural Development Areas of the Pinelands. The intent of prohibiting sewers in this management area is to keep these areas "Rural.” Once sewers are brought into an area, higher development density automatically follows. Learn More
	McGuire-Fort Dix-Lakehurst Mega Base McGuire Air Force Base (AFB), Fort Dix, and Naval Air Engineering Station (NAES) Lakehurst, are located within Burlington and Ocean Counties, and have combined to form one Joint Base. The Joint Base encompasses 42,000 acres in the northern portion of the Pinelands. Learn More
	Off-Road Vehicles Illegal riding of off-road vehicles is damaging over 300,000 acres of state park, forest and wilderness each year, and is costing the State and taxpayers almost a million dollars each year in damages without the ability to assign that loss to the responsible party. Learn More
	Ethanol Plant in the Pinelands (2009) There is an application pending with the Pinelands Commission for an Ethanol Plant in the Borough of Woodbine, Cape May County. The application is for the construction of a 25 million gallon per year ethanol/biofuel production facility at the site of the former municipal landfill located off of Fidler Hill Road in Woodbine.
