Experienced and non-competitive paddlers are urged to participate in this 2nd annual event. The race course covers a 9.1 mile Class-I section of the Crosswicks Creek. Varied widths, depths, twists and turns make this a challenging event. Touring paddlers will choose their own distance and pace. Life vests required for both events.
All proceeds, after expenses, will benefit The Crosswicks-Doctors Creek Watershed Association (a 501(c)3 organization) and the Kenneth H. Francis Environmental Scholarship Fund.

A day-long naturalist tour of one of the beautiful and historic Pinelands rivers. Foliage and wildlife make this an exhilarating and memorable experience. For newcomers, a great introduction to the history and ecology of the Pine Barrens.
This is a leisurely paddle, but may be moderately challenging for some. It's best to have some canoe or kayak experience before making this trip. You can rent a canoe or kayak (approx. $40 per canoe, made payable to canoe livery, by cash or check only), or bring your own. The livery will charge for a carry.

This trip starts at the historic Batsto mill pond and takes you down the winding turns of the tea-colored lower Batsto River to where it empties into the much larger Mullica. The trip may also include a visit to historic Batsto Village, if there's time at the end of the paddle.
Each trip costs $14, which includes transportation, canoe, paddle, life vest and the expertise of a guide. (Bring your own canoe and you can knock the price down to $8 per person.) The trips last most of the day, so bring a lunch, water and anything else you'll need.

Description: A day-long naturalist tour of the beautiful and historic Batsto River. Foliage and wildlife make this an exhilarating and memorable experience. Explore a characteristic Pine Barrens wetland savannah along the river - home to several rare plant species. We'll stop for a brown bag lunch along the way. Bring plenty of water and be sure that any cell phones, cameras, and other important items are secured in waterproof containers (plastic bags and tupperware will not work!).
