Pine Barrens upland soil is sandy, sometimes gravelly, porous, acidic and does not retain enough moisture for most crops. Only in fringe areas, sometimes called the "shatterbelt" of the Pine Barrens, is the soil naturally suitable for traditional farming, enabling commercial vegetable, grain and fruit farms to develop and thrive. The Cranberry Festival is a celebration of New Jersey's cranberry harvest, the 3rd largest in the United States, and offers a tribute to the Pine Barrens & Culture.
Presented by:
The Festival Committee of Chatsworth for the benefit of the restoration & preservation of the White Horse Inn.
The main attraction is the diverse showing of many artists & craftsmen, some of which will also be demonstrating their crafts as well as displaying them for sale.
Admission to the festival is FREE.
A donation of $5.00 will be accepted if you use our highly recommended parking area at the school located off of Second Street.
