Take a video tour of historic Harrisville, the remains of a company town now located in Wharton State Forest. Isolated deep in the Pinelands, Harrisville is a genuine ghost town from the late 1800's. Once a flourishing village, it was abandoned in 1891 after the driving force of the community, the great paper mill, went out of business. Today the evocative ruins of the paper mill can be seen but are fenced off for safety and preservation reasons. Download the video podcast for your iPhone/iPod and use the map at right for a guided tour of Harrisville Village with author and historian Barbara Solem Stull, author of Ghost Towns and Other Quirky Places of the New jersey Pine Barrens.Download the accompanying podcast tour map of Harrisville.
