Woodford Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge, 4 Sawmill Road, Medford Township, NJ
Extensive collection of native Pinelands plants for sale, and various presentations, live animal demonstrations, and a guided nature walk. The event is co-sponsored by the NJ Pinelands Commission, Pinelands Preservation Alliance and Cedar Run. It is part of the backyard habitat program that encourages Pinelands residents to help preserve and protect this unique environment. Admission is free.

Recognized for research in the fields of entomology and wildlife ecology, Tallamy has published 68 research articles and has taught courses on these topics for nearly three decades. Recently, the Garden Writers Association of America awarded his book, Bringing Nature Home, its Silver Medal.

Join the Native Plant Society of New Jersey for our Annual Meeting: The Great Debate! In honor of this South Jersey meeting Mark Demitroff, member of the University of Delaware Permafrost Group and PhD student at the Geography Department, will present "Pine Barrens Landscapes, Frozen Ground, and the Jersey Devil", an exciting story of the region's natural history, enriched by adding botanical context to recent geological studies.
There will be a short business meeting, the NPSNJ Year-in-Review and Chapter Gatherings.
This will all be followed by THE GREAT DEBATE! Native Plants Species versus Cultivars. Join us as Restoration Specialist Bill Young of Young Environmental, LLC and Propagation Guru Jason Austin of Rare Find Nursery debate the value and importance of Native Species and Cultivars in the landscape. Come prepared with questions, this will be a real debate with your questions being addressed by the speakers.
Light morning refreshments and a full lunch is included in the cost of this meeting. A Native Plant Sale and Hike will follow the meeting.

Also: Raffle for cool prizes, gardening lectures and tours of the historic barn and farmhouse.
The Pinelands Visitor Center will also be open, with a variety of books, DVDs, clothing and other Pinelands-related merchandise on offer.
Plants supplied by Pinelands Nursery, RareFind Nursery, and Fernbrook Nursery.
Proceeds go towards furthering PPA's mission to protect and preserve the Pinelands.

Dr. Jay Kelly, Instructor of Biology and Environmental Science at Raritan Valley Community College, will discuss the rare and endangered flora of New Jersey. The talk will focus on the flora from the Pine Barrens, streams, marshes and shores of the Barnegat Bay Watershed to illustrate the larger issues of rare plant species conservation in the Garden State.

The Weymouth Township Environmental and Shade Tree Commissions are holding their Sixth Annual Spring Seminar on Saturday, March 10, 2012. Attendees will qualify for CEU credits under the NJ Shade Tree and Community Forestry Assistance Act. The program is as follows:
9:15 am: Registration & Refreshments
9:30 - 11:30 am: Ned Gaine will talk about native tree care and landscaping, including health, pruning, spacing, mulching, blooming and undergrowth management. He will also discuss which plants bloom and which put off color, bloom and foliage care, and common tree pests and their identification. Ned has a MS in Biology from Rutgers University.

11:45 am: Registration & Refreshments
12:00 - 1:00 pm: Rare and unusual wildflowers of the Pinelands - Presentation by Michael Hogan.
