Wharton State Forest M.A.P. Public Meeting
Time & Place
Hammonton High School, 566 Old Forks Road, Hammonton NJ 08037
The New Jersey State Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has scheduled a meeting for the public to voice their opinion on the proposed Motorized Access Plan (MAP) for Wharton State Forest. You must pre-register by Wednesday, October 28th to attend this important meeting.
DEP staff spent four years mapping all the roads, trails and unofficial access points in Wharton State Forest in order to get a handle on the incredible amount of off-road vehicle damage occurring there. In August they released an in-depth motorized access plan (MAP) for Wharton. They designated 225 miles for motorized vehicles and placed sensitive areas and forest fire service road cuts (that were NOT roads) off limits to vehicular traffic. Now the DEP has backed away from this plan and appears to be prioritizing motorized use of Wharton over the protection of fragile habitat and passive users of Wharton State Forest.
Participants need to sign up by Wednesday, Oct. 28, to ensure a spot during the public meeting on Nov. 5. To register send an email to email@example.com or call 609-704-1964.

Rally for the Pinelands
Time & Place
8:30 am to 11:30 am
Tell New Jersey – The Pinelands Belong to the Public!
The Pinelands National Reserve wasn’t created as a pathway for the construction of natural gas pipelines. It wasn’t preserved to serve as an Off-Road Vehicle Park and it doesn’t have an endless supply of clean water. Yet our state agencies and elected representatives are working to undo over 35 years of Pinelands protections.
Rally for the Pines on March 14th
Time: 8:30 am to 11:30 am
Location: New Jersey State Capital, Trenton NJ
A coalition of environmental organizations, residents impacted by natural gas pipeline projects, activists, and concerned citizens are organizing a march and rally in Trenton to demand that our state legislators and state agencies ENFORCE and STRENGTHEN Pinelands regulations.
Join us on March 14th in Trenton NJ. We will march down State Street in the morning and then rally at the Statehouse. Following the rally participants will be able to find their representative and deliver a personal message. Carpooling will be coordinated.
Sponsored by the Pinelands Preservation Alliance, New Jersey Chapter of the Sierra Club, Food & Water Watch NJ, the Association of New Jersey Environmental Commissions (ANJEC), the New Jersey Conservation Foundation and the New Jersey League of Conservation Voters.
