Pinelands Preservation Alliance is pleased to be this year's Waterspirit Honoree.
The "Wave of Hope Award" will be accepted by PPA staff.
Tickets are $75.00 each. The program includes light fare and wine, music and a silent auction.
The Wave of Hope Award is presented to individuals or organizations that, like WATERSPIRIT, are committed to the preservation and protection of water and its supporting systems. A special consideration is given to recipients who have collaborated with and assisted WATERSPIRIT in this common mission.
According to Suzanne Golas, Director of WATERSPIRIT, "It is especially appropriate that we would honor PPA on this, their twentieth anniversary. PPA, in their tireless efforts to preserve and protect the Pinelands, has made an enourmous contribution to the protection of NJ's waters. We at WATERSPIRIT are grateful for PPA's specific support of our work. Rich Bizub has been a faithful and effective member of our Board and an ever available consultant on water issues. Rich and Theresa Lettman have contributed their expertise and experience as presenters and panelists at WATERSPIRIT programs."
WATERSPIRIT is a center committed to informing, inspiring and enabling people to:
* Recognize the connection between ecology and spirituality
* Appreciate the interdependence and sacredness of all creation
* Become more aware of the significance of water and watersheds in the wider context of the story of the Universe and the life of planet Earth
* Grow in knowledge of ecological issues related to oceans, rivers, lakes, coastlines and wetlands
* Embrace life style changes necessary to protect and preserve creation
* Commit to joining efforts with others in confronting ecological issues

Description: The streams, wetlands and aquifers of the Pinelands are the "green infrastructure" without which the ecosystem would die, agriculture would become impossible, and millions of residents and tourists would lose their water supply. Learn about the region's water resources and how the distinctive nature of Pine Barrens waters sustains the plant and animal communities of this ecosystem. The talk focuses on the interactions between the Kirkwood-Cohansey aquifer and surface waters, and the threats to our water resources from contamination. We also discuss the ways New Jersey and its citizens can protect Pinelands waters to serve both the natural landscape and sustainable human uses.
Speaker: Rich Bizub, PPA
