Presentations will include speakers on a variety of Pinelands topics, including plants, animals, history, and culture.
Historic Whitesbog is the site of the first cultivated blueberry. The surrounding bogs and forest provide an opportunity to view a pinelands ecosystem. Tours will include cranberry bog tours, historic tours of Whitesbog Village (including Sunningive, the home of Elizabeth White, who first cultivated the blueberry), and ecology walks led by naturalists. Tours will continue throughout the day.
A wide variety of exhibitors, artists, nature photographers, and interactive displays will be showcased, all featuring the different facets and crafts of the Pinelands. Many of the region's environmental organizations will be on hand. Information and pamphlets will be available for festival-goers to collect as a resource.
Parking: $7 per car.

The day will include the release of a rehabilitated animal, walking and tractor driven tours, presenters on a wide range of Pinelands subjects, sounds provided by icons in the Pine Barrens music community, children's activities, great food, and exhibits that offer a wealth of information.

6 to 7 miles. Moderate pace. If we are lucky we may see the lovely tundra swan, so bring your
cameras. Only mandatory stops for picture taking, clothing adjustments or nature calls, so don't over do the coffee, it will be cold out there. You will be back to the cars at lunch time and you can have your lunch at the tables. People with GPS's must keep track of my speed so I don't go too fast. Just reel me in. Dogs and kids are welcome, both on leash. Be early, we leave on time.

6-7 mi. moderate pace - Join me in a walk through the bog woods and help me get my 1000 mi. in. Clothing adjustments, drinks, or pit stops only. Bring an energy or snack bar and drink. Lunch can be eaten at the tables when we return around noon. It will be mostly sand roads but bug spray may be a good idea to ward off any waking ticks from their long winter nap. Pull me by my braid if I go too fast. Cookies provided for hiker hounds on leash. Kids on leash, but no cookies. Be on time, I wait for no man. Note start time. Visit Brendan Byrne SF and Whitesbog Preserve with Karl Anderson and try your hand at identifying common and unique Pine Barrens tree species. The day will cover both conifers and deciduous, including some species not native to the area. Late summer herbaceous plants, such as asters and goldenrods will not be ignored. This is a great day for the beginner and seasoned botanist. Cost: $15 for members, $20 for nonmembers.
